"Modeling and Simulation for Advanced Metal Manufacturing" Presented by Dr. Ernesto Gutierrez-Miravete Professor of Practice, Department of Engineering & ScienceOriginally presented on 2/22/12
Mastery of metal manufacturing systems is key for economic leadership in modern industrial societies. Developments in both software and hardware over the past couple of decades are making possible the use of mathematical modeling for realistic simulation, investigation and optimization of metal manufacturing processes.
The presentation describes examples of recent work at RPI that demonstrate current capabilities and the potential for computer simulation methods to increase the efficiency and the quality of metal manufacturing processes, including casting, welding, forming and machining.
